Program Description

A type 2 immune response involves both innate and adaptive immune systems and involves the activation of several cytokines that play a central role in airway inflammation and remodeling and epithelial barrier dysfunction across conditions. As a result of the interconnectedness between type 2 inflammation and common comorbidities, patients often present with multiple type 2 conditions. Identifying and managing patients with type 2 allergic comorbidities requires an integrated, multidisciplinary approach and improved competence and confidence in the utilization of biologic therapies. This keynote address to the 2025 Immunology Specialty Pharmacy Day of Education will examine the pathophysiology of select type 2 allergic comorbidities and the rationale for the initiation of biologic therapy in eligible patients. Attendees will gain insight into the specific factors to consider when selecting a biologic agent and strategies to reduce the clinical and economic burden associated with biologics in type 2 inflammatory conditions that will prepare them for the sessions to follow throughout the 2025 Immunology Specialty Pharmacy Day of Education.
