Program Description

Psoriasis is a chronic, immune-mediated inflammatory disease characterized by painful or pruritic plaques and a substantial psychosocial burden that can significantly impact quality of life. While topical therapies are often used initially, many patients require escalation to systemic treatment due to inadequate disease control, adverse effects, or practical limitations. Although biologic therapies have improved outcomes for many patients, treatment selection remains complex, and there is no single, universally accepted algorithm to guide optimal therapy sequencing. As the treatment landscape continues to evolve, the availability of targeted oral therapies such as tyrosine kinase 2 (TYK2) inhibitors has expanded therapeutic options and increased opportunities for individualized, patient-centered care. This activity will examine the role of TYK2 inhibition within the broader psoriasis treatment paradigm and how these agents may be integrated into clinical practice. Through interactive, case-based discussions, expert faculty will explore treatment sequencing, therapy initiation and switching, and real-world challenges including prior authorization navigation, counseling on oral versus injectable preferences, and managing patient expectations for treatment outcomes.
