Program Description

Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disorder that can range in presentation from ocular weakness to mild, moderate, or severe general muscle weakness and fatigue, that affects the ability to walk and breathe. Despite advancements, many patients with gMG still face suboptimal treatment outcomes and limited access to treatments. For pharmacists, navigating the complexities of generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG), ongoing challenges in disease management, and significant patient burden are critical areas in which there is a growing need to stay informed. Specialty pharmacists can help by providing personalized care, optimizing treatment regimens, and navigating challenges including costs and complex insurance requirements to improve treatment effectiveness for patients with gMG. This webinar will delve into the pathophysiological processes of gMG, the impact of the disease on patients' quality of life, and the evolution of treatment paradigms. Expert faculty will review current clinical guidelines and treatment recommendations as well as recent advancements, including disease-targeted therapies and emerging and investigational agents. The program will also highlight the role of specialty pharmacists within a multidisciplinary team, focusing on medication monitoring, patient education, ensuring access to therapies, and optimizing patient outcomes in gMG.
