Program Description
Bispecific antibodies
(BsAbs) have expanded the treatment landscape for patients with
relapsed/refractory lymphomas. Yet, as these agents gain broader approvals and
their use shifts increasingly to community settings, oncology teams face
significant challenges in ensuring safe, standardized, and accessible care.
This multidisciplinary panel discussion explores clinical and operational
issues associated with the use of BsAbs, including institutional readiness and
infrastructure, which encompasses facility needs, formulary decisions, and REMS
compliance. Panelists will also detail evidence-based prophylactic strategies
to address toxicity management and escalation of care, such as defined
protocols for safe step-up dosing and the logistics of emergency interventions.
Finally, the panel will address site-of-care coordination and financial impact,
providing best practices for successfully transitioning patients from academic
to community settings, navigating complex insurance approvals and financial
barriers, and developing practical solutions to minimize travel burden for
rural patients. These specialized skills in operationalizing complex care
pathways, leading safety and monitoring initiatives, and streamlining financial
and communication workflows will support oncology pharmacists as they become
leaders in making BsAb therapy safe and accessible for patients with lymphomas
in their communities.
