Program Description

The management of diabetes has been transformed by the use of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices, which are technologies that can provide a comprehensive understanding of time-in-range and glycemic variability. Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians must be familiar with these CGM devices and the information they provide. The true clinical value of these devices lies in the ability to interpret complex data trends rather than viewing isolated numbers. For community pharmacists, the ability to interpret these data trends is becoming a vital skill for identifying hidden patterns of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia that may be less recognizable through standard blood glucose testing methods. This session dives into the latest digital tools and data features in CGM apps that can be leveraged by both people living with diabetes and pharmacists to support glycemic targets. The emerging frontier of continuous ketone monitoring (CKM) and its role in preventing diabetic ketoacidosis episodes will also be discussed. Speakers will review how integrated lifestyle management can be used alongside CGM data trends to individualize diabetes care and management. By mastering these digital therapeutics and CGM alerts, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians will gain the practical expertise needed to support patient education, troubleshoot potential concerns, and drive better results through proactive, real-time intervention.
