Program Description
Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is a common nutritional deficit in women of childbearing years and is responsible for about half the cases of anemia. However, guidelines for screening women for anemia are inconsistent across organizations, which complicates accurate identification of anemia in women. Pharmacists should be aware of these screening recommendations for women as well as the benefits of supplemental iron intake for pregnant patients, those planning for pregnancy, as well as those in pre- and post-menopausal women with IDA. This webinar will review the risks and benefits of various iron supplements and oral versus intravenous iron product utilization in women during all life stages. This webinar is part of the Iron Deficiency Anemia Webinar series.
