Program Description
Advances in HER2-targeted
therapies have improved outcomes for patients with HER2-expressing breast
cancer. However, HER2-targeted treatment regimens can be complex, and can
consist of multiple therapies, with dosing variations, different administration
schedules, and unique adverse effects (AEs). This webinar reviews distinctions
in HER2 status, including HER2-positive, HER2-low, and HER2-ultralow disease,
and the implications of diagnostic testing on treatment selection. The
mechanism of action, efficacy, and safety of key HER2-targeted drug classes,
including monoclonal antibodies, tyrosine kinase inhibitors, and antibody-drug
conjugates, as well as novel agents, will be outlined. The discussion will
integrate the latest clinical data from trials into treatment sequencing
strategies, with a review of recommendations and current organization
guidelines for patients receiving frontline, second-line, and subsequent
therapy. As these data continue to emerge, oncology pharmacists will maintain
their pivotal roles in managing AEs and overcoming access and adherence
challenges. This webinar will explore the implications of emerging clinical
data for HER2-targeted therapies in practice alongside a discussion of managed
care considerations in the integration of new evidence and formulary decisions
to reduce barriers to treatment access for patients with HER2+ metastatic
breast cancer.

Educational Objectives
At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Illustrate the evolving landscape of HER2-positive (HER2+) metastatic breast cancer (mBC), including current standards of care and emerging sequencing strategies relevant to managed care decision-making
- Analyze recent clinical trial evidence and evolving HER2-targeted therapies to guide evidence-based formulary development and population health management
- Explain the implications of new treatment data on access, affordability, and care delivery models to support optimal utilization and equitable outcomes in HER2+ mBC
