Program Description
Chronic rhinosinusitis with
nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by
presence of benign nasal polyps, which can contribute to significant
quality-of-life impairment. Biologic therapies have demonstrated efficacy in
treating patients with severe, uncontrolled CRSwNP, although their use is
associated with several challenges. The session will explore the underlying
pathophysiology of CRSwNP, driven by type 2 inflammation, and review current
treatment guidelines alongside recent clinical data for approved biologics. The
discussion will focus on the role of specialty pharmacists in overcoming
challenges and gaps in care, specifically addressing strategies for
individualized biologic selection, facilitating medication access and coordination,
providing patient counseling, and ensuring effective initiation and monitoring
of these complex therapies. By synthesizing the latest clinical and real-world
data, attendees will be equipped with the practical knowledge necessary to
overcome systemic barriers and drive individualized, effective biologic
selection for patients with CRSwNP.
