Program Description
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a common immune-mediated demyelinating disease. While there have been advancements in understanding MS pathogenesis and developing disease-modifying therapies, many patients fail to respond due to lack of efficacy, adverse effects, poor tolerability, or poor adherence. Recently approved therapeutic agents, such as novel oral agents and monoclonal antibodies, are being developed to address these unmet medical needs for patients with relapsing and remitting MS. As frontline medication experts, pharmacists play a critical role in treatment selection, patient counseling, monitoring for adverse effects, and managing complex medication regimens. This session will review clinical guidelines, treatment goals such as preventing irreversible disability and reducing central nervous system inflammation, and best practices to provide informed, proactive support across the MS care continuum
