Program Description
Immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN) is the most common primary glomerulonephritis worldwide and is a leading cause of kidney failure, with 25% to 30% of patients progressing to end-stage kidney disease. Early detection and appropriate management of IgAN are critical to slowing disease progression and improving long-term patient outcomes. Until recently, therapeutic options for IgAN were largely limited to supportive care and management of secondary symptoms, including renin-angiotensin system (RAS) blockade for blood pressure control and proteinuria reduction. A growing understanding of IgAN pathophysiology, including the multi-hit hypothesis, the role of the gut microbiome and a proliferation-inducing ligand, and complement pathway involvement, has driven the development of multiple FDA-approved therapies and expanded the pipeline of emerging agents.
As the IgAN treatment landscape continues to advance, managed care professionals and pharmacists are uniquely positioned to drive meaningful improvements in patient access and outcomes. This webinar is designed to equip managed care professionals and pharmacists with the clinical and economic knowledge needed to navigate the expanding landscape of therapies in IgAN. In addition to pathophysiology, the discussion will examine risk stratification challenges and updated guideline recommendations, including more stringent proteinuria goals and optimized strategies for preserving kidney function. The program will also address the practical realities facing managed care teams, such as treatment cost considerations, access barriers including prior authorization and step therapy requirements, and formulary management strategies for rare disease therapies.

Educational Objectives
