Program Description

Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) carries a significant health economic burden, characterized by high direct and indirect costs from frequent specialist visits, surgeries, and missed work. The current standard of care in CRSwNP comprises topical intranasal corticosteroids, short-course systemic steroids, and saline irrigation that provides relief for some; however, these management strategies fail in approximately 50% of cases, which necessitates corticosteroid use though this must be balanced against the adverse effects associated with long-term use. This program addresses the critical need for a personalized approach to treatment in CRSwNP. Expert presenters will guide pharmacists through identifying patients in whom standard therapies have failed as candidates for biologic intervention to mitigate the risks of corticosteroid overuse. The latest clinical trial data for emerging biologics will be reviewed alongside evolving guideline recommendations to ensure evidence-based treatment selection is tailored to individual patient profiles. Beyond clinical efficacy, the session tackles the practical complexities of the pharmacist’s role, from navigating coverage pathways and prior authorization processes to overcoming logistical barriers in administration and adherence.

• Employ evidence‑based strategies to optimize access and care coordination for patients with CRSwNP on biologics, including navigation of coverage and prior authorization requirements
