Program Description

This keynote presentation for PTCE's 2025 Infectious Disease Day of Education will provide pharmacists with a comprehensive review of critical safety and adherence issues in injectable treatments and vaccinations. The discussion will begin by outlining essential safety factors and the importance of universal precautions in minimizing occupational hazards across health care settings. Attendees will then examine how medication adherence influences disease management and prevention, with an emphasis on identifying common barriers that impede optimal adherence. The presentation will conclude with evidence-based strategies to support long-term adherence to therapy, highlighting the pharmacist’s pivotal role in patient education and collaborative care, and setting the stage for additional discussions throughout the day on the importance of maintaining patient safety.
