ABC With ADCs: Advancing Breast Cancer With Antibody-Drug Conjugates

Program Description

The uptake of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) across advanced breast cancer subtypes requires pharmacist expertise to navigate this expanding treatment landscape. Recent ADC development utilizing tumor-specific monoclonal antibodies paired with highly potent cytotoxic payloads via advanced linker technologies has resulted in greater efficacy. This session will equip oncology pharmacists with the clinical evidence and guideline recommendations needed to ensure evidence-based ADC selection and sequencing. Presenters will discuss data from landmark trials and contextualize the application of these concepts through patient case scenarios. A key focus during this session will be on supporting patient safety through adverse effect (AE) identification and management, as ADC-related toxicities follow nontraditional timelines and vary drastically. Participants will examine how to integrate these clinical insights into practice by reviewing operational workflows for therapy verification, navigating look-alike/sound-alike risks, and implementing protocolized monitoring for early AE recognition. The session will also review best practices to optimize supportive care coordination to prevent premature dose interruptions and maximize treatment adherence.
